Another Superbowl halftime show with another controversial twist, and I think this is getting a little too cliché for our performers. Everyone is striving to be original, but if you get 15 extra seconds of fame from a played-out publicity stunt, you’re only fooling yourself.
M.I.A. quickly flipped off the camera during her part of the performance and caused an outburst of fans that were enraged by the disrespect.
The aftermath
NFL blamed NBC for not censoring it. NBC blamed NFL for hiring the production team. Both organizations apologized, and the crisis simmered quickly.
A quick, swift reaction caused the public to get their cries out, the organizations to respond, and everyone to feel resolved of the issue eventually. Susan G. Komen could learn from this.
