I’m not typically a big fan of New Year’s resolutions because I make resolutions year-round: getting in shape, work goals, doing more of x activity… you get the picture.
In fact, I’ve witnessed only one person make a year-long resolution and stick to it. Instead, I make shorter time-sensitive goals (this week, this month, by March, etc.) That being said, as I was reviewing my past year I realized I have a tendency to hesitate before following through with some of these goals, regardless of when they’re supposed to be accomplished.
So for the first time, maybe EVER, I’m going to make a 2015 resolution of letting go of the hesitation and trusting myself. Now that I’m 26 (groan), I realize how fast years can fly by before you realize you’ve been sitting on the sidelines instead of getting in the game. My life is comfortable, but I want it to be challenging. I want to grow and learn and follow my heart, in all things. The only conclusion I can draw is to challenge myself and quit hesitating.
I don’t know if anyone out there feels the same way I do, but I don’t want life to pass me by. I want to be LIVING every moment of every day. I’ve already jumped into something new this year and it’s scary and exhilarating. I hope to get to make an announcement about it in the near future.
Anyone want to join me and start proactively living? Anyone have a better resolution they’re working on?

I set expectations as opposed to resolutions each year. Expectations are things that I want to happen without being bogged down to any concrete benchmarks. Mine are to get my career back on track, strengthening familial relationships and upping my travel regimen. I have a post about my expectations here. http://simonoh.com/2015/01/01/expectations-for-2015/
I think along the same lines! I like to set timed goals. I feel more inclined to accomplish things when I have more pressure.
